I’m LinkedIn, now what? Tip 4 – Profile Photo

This isn’t necessary, but consider adding a photo of yourself. Unlike MySpace and Facebook, LinkedIn currently does not allow for much in terms of personalizing your profile. Your photo is one of the few personal touches you can add to your LinkedIn profile.

When selecting a profile picture, consider using a consistent image across social networking sites. For example, use the same picture on LinkedIn, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Digg, and Technorati. It’s preferable to use a simple picture of yourself rather than an avatar – again, the point of a picture is to bring some personality to your profile while still remaining professional.

There is a lot of hype about using social networking tools, such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and Twitter, as part of your job search. But once you’ve set up an account, it’s not always clear how the site can assist you in improving your job search. If you have a passion for the law but do not wish to have to spend numerous years and heaps of money becoming a lawyer then you’re not out of luck yet. Have you ever heard of a court stenographer? This is the individual that sits in the court and takes down all that people are articulating.
