America needs someone like Barack. Someone who will unite us, not divide us, and lower himself with scare tactics like the Clinton campaign has done. We are sick of it. Democrats unite. Take back the White house! Obama 2008!

  4. blkbrt Says:

And if you elect me… I will outlaw all homework assignments. Pizza will be served for hot lunch all week long. And gym will no longer be a mandatory subject. Rah rah rah shish boom bah!!!

The only people voting for Hillary Clinton are women!

The don’t care that Hillary has run a “piss poor” campaign, that has been desperate, disorganized, and at times even bankrupt!

They still want Hillary to run the country, despite her incredibly poor management because she is a woman!

These same “women”/Hillary supporters were mad at CHEATING Bill Clinton, but now support Hillary Clinton – an even BIGGER LIAR THAN HER HUSBAND!

    White Males for Obama ’08!

the republicans are banking on you electing this speech man for the dem nom. Obama doesn’t know his butt from a hole in the ground. Truth is, Nobody is going to have a black man running this country! All the dems I know will vote for a republican before they will vote for some stupid speech making black man. If Clinton is the nominee, all dems will vote for her! It’s that simple. The republicans HOPE Obama will win the dem nom!

DON’T BE THE NEXT SUCKERS ON LYING HILLARY’S CAMPAIGN HIT-LIST PENNSYLVANIANS!

Ohio-ans are still angry that they were suckered into believing that Hillary opposed NAFTA, when her 1st Lady Papers now prove she SUPPORTED NAFTA.

If you think the economy sucks now, let Hillary or McCain win….we’ll all be eating out of trash cans!

    Obama ’08!

You’re so full of it. Did you even watch ONE Wright sermon in full? This man was in the navy and Marines for years, preached for 3 decades, helped thousands of people, and even Bill Clinton respected him so much he invited him to the White house. And yet you base your opinion of him on a 30 sec soundbite Fox kept looping. And find Obama guilty by association, when McCain is buddies with Rev Hagee who thinks gay people caused 9-11 and Clinton’s former pastor is in jail for raping a child! WAKE UP

  14. msdingy Says:

The best way to teach children is through the arts: it is a universal language, inspires the highest levels of thinking, encourages mathematics, and speaks to our common humanity. Kids who participate in music groups must cooperate, have self-discipline, and persevere. The arts have helped give meaning and purpose to many children who simply aren’t successful in other academic areas. Replace NCLB and support Arts Education and OBAMA!

  15. JuniorVX Says:

He only touched the surface of what’s wrong with our schools and the people that can tell you the most are people who just got out of school or high school and I can tell you high teaches you nothing about life or being grown, they tell you but they are not teaching you.

  16. 6minus3minus2 Says:

I share Senator Obama’s feelings about the arts. It can truly help bring us together and understand one another. I’ve never seen a more diverse group of races, classes, shapes, sizes and ages in my hometown of Detroit, than at The Detroit Institute of Arts. It was really inspiring for me to see how powerful art can be in brining people together.

  17. dhectorg Says:

this segment of the speech was specifically about the arts. anyone who has followed obama’s campaign knows that he has always been a proponent of civics education. he has stated so many times in debates and speeches. i wish people cared enough to get informed before they post comments. that would prevent a lot of misinformation from breeding.
also, the gov’t the isn’t constitutionally sound in most of what it does and yet it does it anyway. i suspect that this will continue to be the case.

The only class I remember from my whole school career that I came out with the feeling I actually learned something was choir. I learned not only how to read and sing music, but how to get along with many people from many different groups. The only class I remember having where the students came in ready and willing to listen and learn to the teacher. I miss her honestly, and wish more of my teachers were like that.

3:13 – He was apparently speaking in Scranton.

I hope Dwight had some good questions for him.

  20. kyoko703 Says:

We need more people like MadBam163. Not people that agree, but people who disagree. Stand up, and feeling free to express their disagreements, and with Obama, your concerns will be heard.

  21. G504 Says:

I whole heartedly agree. If we teach kids the analytical skills necessary to recognize high art, then at in turn will mean our more talented singers, painters, and actors will also be the most popular. Not THERE’S a novel idea!

  22. ShannonSBailey Says:

    OBAMA ALL DAY

  23. sweetwendelina Says:

I am so overwhelmed, surprised, and delighted to find this speech on Arts in Education. I am a musician, and Teaching Artist. I can’t believe that we have a presidential candidate actually understands the importance of the arts, and supports it! I really pray that he will be elected and that he will be able to achieve everything that he has said to the American people that he would do. Go OBAMA!!!
