www.LearnToLearn.com Globalization has exploded the Information Age. Yet our education system isn’t preparing our children for how to compete in the Global Economy. America is a nation in crisis. Did you know how little media attention this very real crisis receives? Instead of teaching information that’s quickly obsolete, teaching students how to take standardized IQ tests and achievement tests, labeling our children with learning disabilities and prescribing ADHD, ADD and Dyslexia …

It’s amazing how hard grammar and English really is. I occassionally brush up on vocabulary and grammar myself to get a refresher.
Then again we live in a country where religious conservatives praise the rich, while Jesus is quoted as saying, it is really hard for a rich man to enter heaven. The conservatives do a great job of corrupting this country with their false hypocrisy and promotion of a nihilistic greed oriented society. Jesus would have had a field day with them.

The education system is perfectly fine in America, for those who use it as a tool, rather than unambitious morons who sit in classrooms wondering why they are there and text their BF or GF because listening to the teacher is too hard for them.
You wouldn’t believe how many people either text in class, don’t pay attention or don’t even show up. Seriously people, you can blame the system for those who fail to use it properly.

The education system in America is damn good. What people tend to forget so easily, is that it takes an ambitious student to learn. If parents send inhibited, uninitiated, bored, students to school, the education system can hardly be blamed for the results.
If students are intellectual derelects that is their own fault. It’s time to place responcibility where it belongs.

We have all come here because here there’s more opportunities. Even though the education is not as good. In other countries the education is way much better, but once you graduate and get your diploma, we faced a much harder time getting a job. It sucks. But here in North America, there’s job opportunities., even though we are going through this crisis.

FightFor Freedom… Read your post. You are an example of how education is failing in America.

What’s the point in memorizing the periodic table of the elements if you’re not going to work in a scientific field? If you won’t use it, you’ll just forget it a few years later.
Plus, memorizing trivia you will never use is rendered completely obsolete given two seconds on google can provide you with most of the information you need. I don’t need to memorize the capital cities of the US, I can google.
Skills such as critical thinking and logic on the other hand are useful for LIFE.

Yes there is a problem with our public school system. Honestly how many of you remember the bulk of what you learned through school? Our kids memorize material, belch said material out on tests, then promptly forget it.
In today’s society what kids need to learn is logic, critical thinking, and the ability to gather and filter information.

Personally I don’t think ADD exists at all, or if it does, it’s in a very small portion of society.
When I was going through school I had teachers repeatedly call my parents to conferences and ask that I be put on Ritalin, because I did not focus in class.
I didn’t focus because their lesson was boring. I had no problem focusing on things that I wanted to focus on.
I didn’t have ADD, they just wanted me drugged up to make their job easier.

Education at good school is not bad; it provides one with competitive spirit and high standard. Problems are at workplace: hard-core politics, money-hungry back-stabbing, aggressive behaviour and power-play, reorganization at a whim, etc.

You really should learn to use proper grammar and learn to spell before you slam any education system. Not that I don’t agree with you, I just think you must be a product of the same school system you trash.

If our education system is as bad as you say it is, why are so many other countries sending their graduates and under-graduates to America to study?

America is cheating it’s children out of a good life and a fullfilling future by these indoctrination stations but, people are to stupid to do anything about it so year by year and day by day there are more casualities from this so called “education” they’d have you believe is “perfect” I’m talking about college as well as stupid public schooling.
September 14th, 2009 at 8:09 am
Education is useless, obsolete totally. Counting on kids to get ‘good grades’ and testing is crazy. Build on what a child is good in at an early age. Music, art, vocals, and like. Cramming facts into them is not it.
September 14th, 2009 at 8:09 am
that’s sad for America
